PIZZA LOUNGE, LAGUNA BEACH

I went on an incredible quick little getaway this Christmas to Laguna Beach. 75 degrees, sunny and crystal clear, it was a beautiful Christmas Eve day on the beach.  A friend of mine recommended I go to this amazing pizza place in downtown Laguna on the main road (South Coast Highway) which lies right along the ocean. It’s called the Pizza Lounge. She specifically told me to try this “special peach pizza” that is not on the menu- you have to ask for it. So she being a Laguna veteran, I took her word for it.

TOOK A WALK ON THE BOARDWALK IN DOWNTOWN LAGUNA ON CHRISTMAS EVE DAY BEFORE HEADING TO THE PIZZA LOUNGE FOR LUNCH- GOTTA LOVE SO-CAL!

Right upon arrival, we were quickly greeted by the friendly owner of the Pizza Lounge, who asked to take our order. You can order by the slice out of the options of pizzas already made on the trays shown in the glass window below, or you can custom order different size pizzas or choose from their specialty pizzas on the menu- all made fresh. I told him that I wanted to try the famous “peach pizza” that I was told about, and he knew exactly what I was talking about. He said he will whip up some fresh pizzas he thought we would like and told us to take a seat. I decided to let him take control and be surprised- after all, he was the owner and I trusted he knew what he was doing 🙂
PIZZA BY THE SLICE AT THE PIZZA LOUNGE
SIGNATURE PEACH PIZZA
Secret ingredients, but I know it was made with peaches, gorgonzola, chopped bacon bits, chicken, and it seemed like it was made with a creamy alfredo sauce and another kind of melted cheese.
Now, if someone told me about this pizza combination, I would say there is no way in hell that I would like it. Not a fan of fruit on my pizza, i.e: pineapple pizza lol, but I was actually very pleasantly surprised by the combination of ingredients. I LOVE cheese, but bleu and gorgonzola can be a little strong for me, but the sweetness of the peaches canceled out the potent-ness of the gorgonzola. I don’t know how this combination works, or what inspired someone to create a pizza like this, but it was unique and enjoyable for me. The bread is made fresh, and the white sauce mixed with the cheese was creamy and delicious. I love the sweet of the peach mixed with the salty of the cheese. I recommended everyone to try it. It’s nothing I’ve ever had before.
PIZZA W/ CHICKEN, SUN DRIED TOMATOES, BLACK OLIVES, BASIL, & GOAT CHEESE
This pizza, having a way more familar taste to me, I really enjoyed. The owner chose this pizza for us and it was a simple safe choice. You can really taste the freshness of all the ingredients, and the bread also is baked perfect. Simple ingredients, yet perfection. It had no tomato sauce though. Both pizzas I tried actually had no tomato sauce which was different for me. I missed it a little though, so next time I go I will definitely order a pizza with the traditional tomato sauce. They had a tomato-plum sauce on the menu that I would love to try.
Overall, the Pizza Lounge is a guaranteed good slice of pizza. They have an extensive menu of pizzas, pastas, panini sandwiches, and salads to choose from as well. There is so much more I’d like to try, they have so many different pizzas to choose from. Service was good, and the owner was super friendly and kind. Big thanks to Pizza Lounge for a the great food and experience! And remember, if you go, ask for their special peach pizza- they’ll know what you’re talking about 😉 It’s a must try!
