This posting is very dear to me, because the restaurant I am about to blog about is owned by my first cousin, Scott Slater. Located in Anaheim Hills, Slater’s 50/50 is a goldmine. Featured on the Travel Channel’s show “Bacon Paradise”, and voted top best burgers in Orange County by Urbanspoon, this place is up and coming and about to TAKE OVER the burger competition everywhere. Slater’s 50/50 is a fun, casual & contemporary “sports bar”, but also great and very popular with families. It’s a neighborhood hang out spot that is PACKED from morning to night offering a fully stocked bar of liquor, beer and wine, gourmet burgers and comfort food at its best. The service is great- the entire staff is young, super friendly, very attentive and on top of it. Slater’s 50/50 has become so popular at it’s Anaheim Hills location, my cousin Scott is now opening up a location in Huntington Beach, and a third location is in the works as well.

You are about to see pictures of food you’ve never seen before- I’m talking about some EPIC kind of shit. Creations of a genius. Food combinations you don’t know why it works, it just does. There is a reason why it’s called Slater’s 50/50. Slater is my cousin’s last name (and my mom’s maiden name). The 50/50 part comes in because they are famous for their 50% ground beef, 50% ground BACON burgers. For those of you who don’t eat pork, don’t stress- they also offer all beef, fire beef, chicken, vegetarian and turkey burgers as well. Similar to the burger place “The Counter”, at Slater’s 50/50 you can either order their famous signature burgers off the menu, or you can design your perfect burger. With your choices of bread, 12 different cheeses, 30 toppings, and 20 sauces, you are sure to create the perfect meal. Not only can you design your own burgers, but you can also design your own milkshake! With flavors such as maple bacon, mint chocolate chip, nutella, peanut butter, heath bar crunch, oreo, pumpkin pie, toasted marshmellow, root beer, orange cream and so much more, you can mix it up to create your favorite milkshake.

APPETIZERS
~ COMBO PLATTER: FRENCH FRIES, SWEET POTATO FRIES, FRIED DILL PICKLE CHIPS, BEER BATTERED ONION RINGS, FRIED ARTICHOKE HEARTS, FRIED MACARONI & CHEESE- Talk about a heart attack on a plate! But I’m not complaining, this is the best stuff ever LOL. It came with SIX different dipping sauces. Pumpkin spice for the sweet potato fries, a spicy chipotle sauce, garlic aioli, tapatio ranch, ketchup, etc. WOW!!! I had a hay day with all the sauces lol. Who knew dipping stuff could be so fun?! I died over the fried mac n’cheese and pickles! So yummy. I had to force myself to stop eating this because it was so addicting and too good! Had to save room for what was to come…
~SLATER’S VAMPIRE DIP- GARLIC, CHEESE, & ARTICHOKE DIP. Now this is something else! Could be one of the top things I have ever had in my life. No joke. This is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Like on another level. It comes in a bread bowl with warm garlic chips and freshly sliced warm bread. I can’t even begin to explain the sensations I experienced when eating this. Like….it’s too good to try and explain it, you just have to try it for yourself lol. But I will say that it is the warmest, creamiest, cheesiest, most flavorful dip I’ve ever had. Hands down the best dip ever. BAM!!!
BURGERS
~PEANUT BUTTER & JELLOUSY- SLATER’S FAVORITE & AWARD WINNING! STERLING SILVER GROUND BEEF TOPPED WITH THICK CUT BACON, CREAMY PEANUT BUTTER & STRAWBERRY JELLY- UMMMMM. Can I just say….GENIUS! This was out of this world, on another level, don’t know why it works, it just works, AMAZING! That’s the best description I could give it, I mean, there’s just no words for this either. It’s on another level. Like who would ever think of this burger combo? It totally works, and it was my favorite burger I tried at Slater’s 50/50. Obviously peanut butter and jelly is THE perfect combo, and with juicy beef, and bacon…it just works together. Great blend of flavors. It was dripping with warm creamy peanut butter, and the jelly was dripping all over my plate. Bacon seems to work with sweet and savory things, and the juicy-ness of the beef adds a salty flavor- salty and sweet make the perfect combo!

~THE 50/50- THE FAMOUS 50/50 BURGER. TOPPED W/ AN OVER MEDIUM FRIED EGG, AVOCADO MASH, PEPPERJACK CHEESE & CHIPOTLE MAYO– If I were to create my own perfect burger from scratch, I’d probably make it exactly like this. It has all my favorite elements in a burger. The patty is half ground beef, half ground bacon which makes this burger so special, and sets Slater’s 50/50 apart from any other burger place. I mean I have never heard of ground bacon until this. Such a creative and unique way to use bacon and truly makes this burger a must have!

DESSERT
~50/50’s FAMOUS BACON BROWNIE- A warm chocolate brownie w/ bacon bits inside and on top. On a bed of vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup. Holy moly! This was definitely an interesting shock to my taste buds- in a good way! I love trying unique, new things and this was definitely somethin’ else! Very heavy but definitely worth trying. So rich and delicious. Like I said, bacon works with everything lol. No wonder this place was featured on Travel Channel’s “Bacon Paradise”. At Slater’s they really know how to use the shit outta bacon!
