A night out at Gjelina in Venice! Located on the charming and trendy Abbot Kinney Blvd, Gjelina is a definite hotspot in the Venice area. With wait times that can easily get up to two hours, this restaurant is always busy and quite a scene. It’s not unusual to spot some of your favorite celebs dining here either. Gjelina has a casual, rustic vibe to it; the food is American with a Mediterrean flare and the menu varies daily based on what is the most fresh and locally available. This was light and fresh! You can taste the quality in the yellowtail. Melted in your mouth. Great flavors as well….perfect starter dish to get your appetite going.

I actually really liked this. It was an interesting mix with the feta. A little jarring at first but it worked. The corn was sweet, and the feta gave it a salty kick and I liked the sweet & salty combo. I couldn’t eat much of it because it was heavy but I did enjoy it.

 This pizza was ok. The cortez bottarga made it way too fishy for me. I realized I don’t like any type of anchovy or fish on my pizza after I ordered this. But the bread/crust was good and everything else tasted fresh and delicious. Would’nt order it again though.

Could have lived without this. I love mushrooms, but these were hard and chewy and not even that flavorful. Ordering this was a mistake, there are so many other things I wish I ordered instead…

Healthy, fresh and light! Can’t really go wrong with a kale salad. It had great flavor too!

Overall it was a “pleasant” experience at Gjelina, but I wouldn’t be running to go back there. Nothing really blew my mind, and with all the hype about this restaurant you would think every plate would be amazing. I definitely would go back to try some other things on the menu, and I heard their brunch is good too so I guess I have to give it a second chance! If you have been, I’d love to hear your opinion on Gjelina!
