FOOD TRUCK GALORE! LA FOOD TRUCK CHOWDOWN- DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

Yesterday on June 11, 2011 from 11am-6pm, at the Los Angeles State Historic Park in Downtown LA, over 50 of LA’s most renowned and iconic food trucks gathered for an event to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Tickets cost $10 to enter which went to a good cause, and there were two stages with live bands, carnival games and more food than I have ever seen in my life!
My friends and I went to town with all the food trucks there. I had to try as much as I can for my blog. See what I do for my readers! I couldn’t move at the end I was so full lol, but it was fun and worth it. There was a big grass area where people chowed down at picnic tables, and had picnics on the grass while listening to the bands play with the skyline of Downtown LA in the background. It was a beautiful day.

There were more than 50 food trucks there, only made it to a couple of them but I think I made some pretty good choices. Now let’s start talkin’ bout the trucks! #FOODPORN

FIRST STOP:
 THE GRILLED CHEESE TRUCK
I have been wanting to try this truck for so long and finally I did. This was my favorite truck at the Food Truck Chowdown. Can’t go wrong with grilled cheese! They had a bunch of unique grilled cheeses on the menu, sweet and savory. My friend and I ordered the CHEESY MAC N’ RIB MELT & BRIE MELT ON BLACK PEPPERCORN POTATO BREAD. They were both amazing. The bread was buttery and crispy, and both were so cheesy and delicious. Great flavor. The Cheesy Mac N’ Rib was my favorite. This is their most famous and popular sandwich. It was spicy and cheesy, great mix of flavors. Loved that there was cheesy Mac’ N Cheese in my sandwich lol. The Brie Melt was great too. Very unique with the fig paste and almonds on peppercorn bread. Both so great!

LUDO TRUCK
One of the more famous trucks that were there. Ludo Truck was created by Chef Ludovic Lefebvre, who was an executive chef at 2 of the most luxurious restaurants in LA. Chef Ludo has been seen on Top Chef Masters, Iron Chef America & The Today Show. Ludo Truck is a fried chicken truck with different types of fried Chicken. We ordered the famous Provencal Pepitte, (juicy boneless fried chicken balls infused with rosemary & herbs. Side sauces of Honey Whole-Grain Mustard, BBQ, & Bernaise Mayonnaise. Also comes with Ludo Slaw. We ordered a Honey-Lavendar Biscuit which takes a whole day to make! I definitely recommend this truck! Everything was unique and very flavorful.

WAFFLES DE LEIGE

We ordered a belgian waffle with strawberries, bananas with a scoop of banana and heath ice cream and WHITE CHOCOLATE SAUCE and whipped cream. This was amazing!!! So delicious but SO filling. I was definitely getting stuffed by this point lol. This truck is similar to the WAFELS & DINGES TRUCK in NYC, featured on the Food Network. Great dessert truck.

NEXT STOP:
TORNADO POTATO
I have to try the Screw Driver next time I come across this truck. Look it up on their website to see what it is, it’s intense! Pictured below is the Sausage Torpedo wrapped in a spiral of french-fried potato w/ ketchup and mustard. WOW. BOMBNESS.

LOBSTA TRUCK
I loved this truck! The Lobster Roll was great. This is another one of the more famous trucks in LA. I recommend trying the Lobster Roll if you like lobster. The bread is buttery golden-brown and the lobster is shipped from Maine a couple times a week. YUMMY…

LOBSTER ROLL W/ SIDE OF CLAM CHOWDER

Well, hope you enjoyed all the FOOD PORN. What a day! Stuffed to the max but loved sampling all a little something from all the famous food trucks that are in LA. Still have a couple more I want to try, but couldn’t put another bite in my mouth after all this lol.
