Crustacean is one of my favorites restaurants in LA. It is also known as the “Home of An’s Famous Garlic Noodles”. This 5-star restaurant was created by the An family, a Vietnamese family who immigrated to the US from Vietnam. All of Hollywood’s hottest celebs have dined at Crustacean- from Oprah, to Shaquille O’Neal, the walls are filled with press and celebrity pictures taken with the An family inside the restaurant. Crustacean has a “secret kitchen” where chefs that are very close to the An family for many years are only allowed in. The An family until this day will not reveal the secret recipe of their infamous garlic noodles as well as other famous Crustacean dishes. This is what drew me to this restaurant in the first place…I had to see what the big deal was about these noodles. Crustacean is upscale and also very pricey, but well worth it!

With a big aquarium on the wall with exotic, tropical fish right when you walk in, and a serpentine aqaurium pathway to lead you into the main dining area, this restaurant has a lot of unique aesthetics- such a beautiful restaurant.

Amazing. Literally, incredible. You have the option of cracking the crab yourself, have it cracked but still in the shell, or the meat completely cleaned out of the shell so you don’t have to do it yourself. We chose to have it cleaned out, and you can see all the crab meat lying beneath the shell. I’ve never had such flavorful crab in my life. Mixed in with the garlic noodles is one of my favorite dishes of all time. The flavor is ridiculously good. Very garlic-y, and that’s why I love it so much. It’s pricey, but worth every penny. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. This is what you come to Crustacean for. Enough said.

Another one of my favorite dishes. The prawns come butterflied, and the server comes to the table and takes them out of the shell for you, so again, you don’t have to do the dirty work. The prawns have loads of flavor, especially of garlic, and the garlic noodles are moist and delicious. Everything at Crustacean has amazing flavor. Too bad they won’t share their recipes!

Birthday dessert! MMM…love fried bananas with ice cream. Perfect end to our delicious meal.
